President Trump has stated that Russia has helped US to win WWII at a tune of 60 million lives. First, it is US with allies who have helped USSR to win the war. Second, according to revised Russian numbers that am aware of, total lives lost is estimated at 39 million previously believed to be 27 million. The WWI has claimed 4.5 million lives while during Stalin's regime the deaths are approximated over 110 million.
As far as trade tariffs and sanctions, current trade volume between RU & US is at meager 2.6 billion ten times less than what it once was at 26 billion. So it will have no effect. Best thing for Trump administration to do is to walk away from Ukraine and blame it all on Biden.
When it comes to RU & US alliance, Russia was on US side during the Revolutionary War, helping North in the Civil War, was an ally during WWI and WWII, has also offered help fighting terrorism after 911 attacks. Both are btw Christian nations, Western and Eastern Churches, with red white & blue flags & eagles. In other words, two wings of the same bird.
